| The Irish rebels had very little weapons and they had to get them if they were going to fight the British soldiers (yeomen).The Irish had little money so they got firearms where ever they could.The United Irishmen robbed firearms and made pikes in forges.From Avoca mines the rebels stole gunpowder used in explosions in the mine. |

Pikes were made by blacksmiths and were easy to make. |

| Swords, small guns and blunderbusses were stolen by the rebels but they had few of these. Michael Dwyer was supposed to be very good at fighting with a sword. |
