Avondale House

Avondale House is the home of Charles Stewart Parnell. This house was built for Samuel Hayes in 1779 and was based on a design by James Wyatt. The house is surrounded by over 500 acres of forest park. The house has a large hallway with a mistrel gallery overlooking it.Long ago when they had parties in the hallway the band played on the mistrel gallery. The house itself is symetrical. Downstairs there was the nursery. Beside it is the dining room. It is the most elaborate room in the house with  a stucco plaster work ceilingby the Franchinni brothers. There is also a Drawing Room with a valuable Bossi fireplace made of carara marble. The house has 2 stairways, a servants stairway and a family stairway. There is also a library ( no books there now ). Upstairs there are five bedrooms.

Avondale Forest Park:

Avodale has many different trees and  paths. Avondale has up to 570  acres, but it used to be an estate of 7,000  acres of land. If you  were going through the forest trail you'd be brought around by arrowed markers. It's a lovely place to have a walk or a picnic. There are several different walks. The longest one is the River Walk, a beautiful 4 mile walk along the Avonmore River. Some of the trees are exotic (come from faraway lands), some are native and many are over 100 years old. The park is full of wildlife with deer, squirrels, foxes and many different types of birds. Avondale House is at the center of the forest park. Avondale has a carpark and toliets facilities. Avondale it's great for playing football or hide and seek.                        By Damian. Rang 4

We love going to Avondale House because wem love to run around and go for long walks. We sometimes see the deer and there are lots of trees there. We also collect seeds for our nature table.

We liked Avondale House because we like to run around the big garden. We also liked the walking paths. Our favorite  parts were seeing all the different trees and feeding the deer. Another good part was when we learnt about nature and the seeds in Autumn

Avondale is a great place to go for a walk and to play football, there is lots of space. Avondale House is brilliant, it is great to see all of things from a long time ago.

Avondale House is a good tourist attraction because of all the facilities. I like the massive garden, and all the trees. The house's tour takes you all around the house and is very interesting.
